When I lived with Anna in DC, one of my favorite foods we used to have for dinner was a cheesy tuna casserole.
I remembered it being simple to make, but that was always with Anna in the kitchen doing most of the work and having familiar ingredients. This time I had none of that and I was going off of only the faintest of memories on how the recipe went. But I gave it a try. And as luck would have it, it turned out amazing!
I'm sure the dish could easily clog a coronary artery by itself, but it's soooo good! Having just gotten home from a high intensity badminton workout, I felt I could risk the calories - probably not so much the artery, but in the end I decided it was worth it - and had it for dinner.
Should you be interesting in risking an artery - you do have 4 - here's how to make it! ^^
- Assembly the ingredients
- Put 1 cup of noodles (whatever type of you like) in a pot to boil
- Grate 1 cup of cheese
**I forget what kind of cheese the original recipe calls for and I only had cheese singles. Oops!
- On low heat, combine the onion powder and a bit of milk. Mix until blended. Continue to mix as you slowly add small amounts of cheese and more milk.
**You will add 1 cup of milk during this step. ***The onion powder is extra, I saw it and thought "why not".
- Add two cans of (drained) tuna
- Stir noodles, cheese mix and tuna together until mixed thoroughly
- Add salt and pepper to taste. Eat till your heart stops!
**Don't actually eat till your heart stops!! But do enjoy!!
Oooh you did a good job! our recipe melts the flour and butter together, then adds milk slowly, cook until thick, then add cheese! but you're recipe works really well too! as long as you get a delicious meal, that's all that matters ;)
