I hate this page.
I hate writing a little "date me" bio blip.
Which seems absolutely stupid; because here I am just pouring out a tabulation of one adventure after misadventure after meldown after everything else that crosses my mind as being "worthy" enough to share, and yet I can't write ~100 words to tell you what's my personal deal. It's probably going to take a bottle of wine to get me to write this.
Fast forward a few weeks...
Well it didn't take a bottle of wine to get it out, just a late night desire to have a more complete looking blog and the helpfulness of having recently written a little intro-piece about myself.
So here it is, here's the rundown on what's up with who's writing these stories...
I'm from suburbia, pretty much enough said there.
I went to school at a small (very, very small) private university, near Columbus, Ohio. I studied Zoology and minored in History.
After college, I went with my school as a TA to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania for 3 months. There I worked in a museum developing interactive science worksheets, programs, kits and the like in English for visiting children/school groups.
Afterwards I traveled a bit more in Africa and then up to Europe before going home to the States. Once back in America, I moved to DC where I had an internship at the Smithsonian's American History Museum working as a facilitator between the exhibits and the visitors (telling them about objects, facts, doing little history lessons with prop carts). It was all good fun. When it ended I stayed in DC and worked retail (yay.. kill me) and nannied. After awhile the kids were the only thing keeping me in DC, so I decided I should leave.
Back in Ohio I got an internship helping out in the Office of International Education/Programs at a local university. I did that for a bit, until a friend said we should go to Korea and teach English. I thought 'why not' - I love working with kids, I love to travel - sign me up. My friend backed out, but I did not, and so here I am just starting my third year teaching English to elementary kids in Busan, South Korea.
That's the easy, glossy version. It wasn't all as smooth and simple as it comes across, but it's been a good ride so far. I'm just holding on and enjoying where it takes me.
